This year’s Young Men’s Camp was one for the books! Bright and early on day one, we met at the church, grouped up into our companies, and hit the road toward Torrey, Utah. A surprise hailstorm hovered over our campsite, so we took a lunch break in town while watching the weather like hawks. As soon as the storm gave us a break, we made our move, zipped over to camp, and pitched our tents just in time.
That evening, we were treated to our first delicious camp dinner. Full and happy, we hiked up Aspen Point where we were rewarded with a stunning view of the reservoir and our campsite below. It was the perfect moment to take it all in before hiking back down and settling in for the night.
Thursday took us to Capitol Reef National Park. We split into two groups—some took on the winding paths of Cohab Canyon and Hickman Bridge, while others conquered the Cassidy Arch hike. With beautiful weather in the morning, we soaked in the views before the clouds began creeping in.
Lunch was held at a park near the visitor center, where we refueled and then dove into some classic games—ultimate frisbee and wiffle ball, while keeping an eye on the weather. Back at camp, another fantastic dinner awaited us, followed by a powerful devotional from Brother Hills about putting on the armor of God.
Once the sun went down, it was game on: capture the flag with glowsticks lit up the night and capped off another epic day.
Despite some iffy weather forecasts, we voted to stick it out—and we’re glad we did. Friday was packed with awesome activities right around camp and the nearby reservoir. Each company rotated through six stations: archery, orienteering, hiking, fishing, field games, and even a scripture-themed escape room challenge. (Yes, it was as cool as it sounds.)
The afternoon brought some well-earned free time. Fishing poles came back out, arrows flew at targets, and the campsite buzzed with games and laughter.
On Saturday morning, we gathered for the grand finale: camp awards! Cheers erupted as the Blue Team was crowned overall champions. After some high-fives and group photos, it was time to pack up camp and head home—tired, a little dusty, but full of great memories.
